A mild month, and extremely dry.
Temperatures in Malaga
The average maximum temperature during December 2015 in Malaga was 19.0 Celsius (66F), and that was 2.1 Celsius (4F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 11.1 Celsius (52F), and that was 0.9 Celsius (2F) above the normal December value.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 23.7 Celsius (75F) on the 31st and this was the highest December value at this site since records began in 2005. There were 7 other days when the maximum exceeded 20 Celsius (68F), but the 10th, with a high of 21.3 Celsius (70F), was the only other day with a high above 21 Celsius (70F). There were no cool days during December, in fact the average maximum of 16.9 Celsius (62F) was bettered on every single day of the month. However, on 7 days maxima were between 17 and 18 Celsius (63-64F) with the lowest value of 17.2 Celsius (63F) being recorded on both the 22nd and 26th.
There were no particularly  warm nights during December, but on 5 nights minima were above 13 Celsius (55F). The mildest night was the 10th with a minimum of 14.4 Celsius (58F). This was the only night when the temperature stayed above 14 Celsius (57F). There were no cold nights during December, but on 10 nights the temperature dipped below 10 Celsius (50F). However, only 2 of these cooler nights had lows under 9 Celsius (48F). The 20th had a low of 7.6 Celsius (46F), with the following night only a little less cool at 7.9 Celsius (46F).
The sea temperature remained around 16 or 17 Celsius (61-63F) throughout the month.
Rain in Malaga
There were 0.3 millimetres (0.01 ins.) of rain measured during December and that was under 1% of the average. It was the driest December since records began in 2005. Significant rain (0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.) or more) obviously fell on just the 1 day and that was 6 days below average for the month. The only rain of the month fell on the morning of the 29th.
Thunder
There were no thunderstorms observed in the Malaga area during December.
Wind
On many days there was the usual balance between light or gentle northwesterly land breezes overnight and during the mornings, and light east to southeasterly sea breezes during the afternoons. However, as is typical during the winter months, on some days the northwesterly breeze was stronger and persisted throughout the day. There were no prolonged outbreaks of the ‘levanter’,  the strong east wind, but on the 11th, and more especially, the 27th, a brisk easterly blew for a while and these were the only 2 days when gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph). On the 11th a gust of 23 knots (26 mph) was recorded with 28 knots (32 mph) measured on the 27th.
Fog
There was some patchy fog early on the morning of the 3rd.

During our years in Malaga we have been up to the gorge 3 times hiking by the railway track overlooking the gorge,

so when it opened after the restoration, we wanted to walk the whole Caminito, and we did so on December 11th 2015.

Just to give you an idea of what it was like before they rebuild it, please watch this youtube video:

El Caminito del Rey (English: The King’s little pathway) is a walkway, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ardales in the province of Málaga, Spain.  The walkway had fallen into disrepair and was partially closed for over a decade. After four years of extensive repairs and renovations, the walkway re-opened in 2015. It has been known in the past as the “world’s most dangerous walkway” following five deaths in 1999 and 2000.

History

The walkway was built to provide workers at the hydroelectric power plants at Chorro Fallsand Gaitanejo Falls with means to cross between them, to provide for transport of materials, and to facilitate inspection and maintenance of the channel. Construction began in 1901 and was finished in 1905. King Alfonso XIII crossed the walkway in 1921 for the inauguration of the dam Conde del Guadalhorce and it became known by its present name. The walkway is 1 metre (3 ft) in width, and rises over 100 metres (330 ft) above the river below.

Traversing a collapsed section in 2006

The original path was constructed of concrete and rested on steel rails supported by stanchions built at around 45 degrees into the rock face. It deteriorated over the years and there were numerous sections where part or all of the concrete top had collapsed. The result was large open-air gaps bridged only by narrow steel beams or other supports. Few of the original handrails existed although a safety wire ran the length of the path. Several people lost their lives on the walkway and, after two fatal accidents in 1999 and 2000, the local government closed both entrances. Even so, in the 4 years to 2013, four people died attempting to climb the gorge.

The regional government of Andalusia and the local government of Málaga agreed in June 2011 to share costs of restoration (including car parking and a museum) of €9 million. The project took approximately three years to complete. Many of the original features remained in place.

In March 2014, the cornerstone of the rehabilitation project was laid by specialized alpinists. The walkway reopened on 29 March 2015 and was listed in the best new attractions for 2015 by Lonely Planet.

The coolest days were confined to the end of the month with 5 out of the last 9 days having maxima under 20 Celsius (68F). There was only 1 day when the temperature stayed below 18 Celsius (64F), and that was the 22nd when a high of 17.1 Celsius (63F) was logged.
There were no particularly  warm nights during November, but on 7 nights minima were above 15 Celsius (59F). All of these mild nights occurred before mid month and included 2 nights with lows above 16 Celsius (61F). The mildest night was the 4th with a minimum of  16.7 Celsius (62F). Before mid month, all minima were above 13 Celsius (55F), but after mid month, there were only 3 nights when the temperature remained above 13 Celsius (55F). On 4 nights the temperature dipped below 10 Celsius (50F), with all these cooler nights occurring after the 22nd. On 3 of these nights, minima were between 9 and 10 Celsius (48-50F), but around dawn on the 24th a low of 6.8 Celsius (44F) occurred, at the end of the coolest night of the month.
The sea temperature held up well for most of the month with daily values between 18 and 19 Celsius (64-66F), but late in November the sea cooled to between 15 and 16 Celsius (59-61F).
Rain in Malaga
There were 36.4 millimetres (1.4 ins.) of rain measured during November and that was around 40% of the average. Significant rain (0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.) or more) fell on just 3 days and that was 5 days below average for the month. All the rain occurred during the first 3 days of November with the 1st being the wettest day. A total of 25.7 millimetres (1 in.) was measured with all of the rain falling mid to late evening. light showers on the following evening produced 0.3 millimetres (0.01 ins.) of rain, with outbreaks of rain on the morning of the 3rd accounting for the final 10.4 millimetres (0.4 ins.) of the monthly total.
Thunder
There was 1 thunderstorm in west Malaga during November, and that occurred for over 2 hours on the evening of the 1st and was accompanied by an impressive display of forked lightning.
Wind
On most days during the first 3 weeks, there was the usual balance between light northwesterly land breezes overnight and during the mornings, and light or gentle east to southeasterly sea breezes during the afternoons and evenings. However, during the unsettled interlude at the very beginning of the month winds were predominantly from the east or southeast. During the last 10 days of the month northwesterly winds were dominant both day and night, and were quite brisk at times, although a return to lighter, more variable, winds returned on the 29th and 30th. There were 7 days when gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph), with most of the breezier days occurring fairly late in the month. However, the highest gust, 30 knots (34 mph), occurred in association with the thunderstorm on the 1st.
Fog
There was some patchy fog early on the morning of the 6th.

A pleasantly warm month, but occasionally wet.
Temperatures in Malaga
The average maximum temperature during October 2015 in Malaga was 24.0 Celsius (75F), and that was 0.3 Celsius (0.5F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 17.4 Celsius (63F), and that was 0.4 Celsius (<1F) above the normal October value.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 29.2 Celsius (85F) on the 5th, with 28.8 Celsius (84F) logged on the following day. There were 6 other days when the temperature exceeded 25 Celsius (77F), but the 21st, with a high of 27.7 Celsius (82F), was the only other day with a high above 27 Celsius (81F). There were no particularly cool days during October but on 8 days maxima were below 22 Celsius (72F). The 11th was the only one of these cooler days before mid month. There was just 1 day when the temperature failed to reach 21 Celsius (70F), and that was the 27th when the maximum was 20.6 Celsius (69F).
There was only 1 very warm night during October and that was the 4th/5th with a low of 22.2 Celsius (72F). The next warmest night was the 2nd/3rd with a minimum temperature of 19.9 Celsius (68F). There were 3 other days with minima above 19 Celsius (66F), with all of these warmer nights occurring during the first week of the month. On most nights, minima were between 15 and 18 Celsius (59-64F) but on 2 nights the temperature fell below 15 Celsius (59F). The minimum on the 27th/28th was 13.6 Celsius (57F), but the coolest night of the month was the 29th/30th with a low of 13.2 Celsius (56F).
The sea temperature was between 19 and 21 Celsius (66-70F) throughout the month.
Rain in Malaga
There were 64.0 millimetres (2.5 ins.) of rain measured during October and that was around 10% above average. Significant rain (0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.) or more) fell on 9 days and that was 2 days above average for the month. The first 9 days of October were completely dry, but a little rain, however,  not enough to measure, fell on the afternoon of the 10th. Light rain fell on the following 2 days, but with a total of less than 4 millimetres (0.2 ins.). It was then dry until the 17th when rain in the afternoon and evening gave over 4 millimetres (0.2 ins.) of rain. On the 18th, rain in the early hours was followed by sunny spells, but heavy rain at the end of the day produced a daily total of 15.2 millimetres (0.6 ins.). Showers on the 19th gave just over 1 millimetre (0.04 ins.) of rain, and showery rain fell in the early hours of the 20th. However, rain on the 20th was insignificant and it was then dry until the 25th. The 5 millimetres (0.2 ins.) of rain on the 25th was caused by a heavy early morning shower. Heavy rain fell until late morning on the 26th, and this, combined with an early evening shower, gave a total for the day of 28.7 millimetres (1.1 ins). Rain fell at times until early afternoon on the 27th, giving another 5 millimetres (0.2 ins) of rain, with a light early morning shower on the 28th proving to be the last rainfall of the month.
Thunder
There was 1 thunderstorm in west Malaga during October, and that was fairly slight and occurred on the evening of the 18th.
Wind
On most days, there was the usual balance between light northwesterly land breezes overnight and during the mornings, and light or gentle east to southeasterly sea breezes during the afternoons and evenings. The exceptions were during the first week, when northwesterly winds occasionally persisted all day; and after mid month, when unsettled spells were accompanied by brisk easterly winds. Gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph) on only 4 days,  with all of these windier days occurring after mid month. The highest gust was 29 knots (33 mph) on the 26th.
Fog
There was no fog observed in west Malaga during October.

A fairly average month apart from the intense thunderstorm on the 7th.
Temperatures in Malaga
The average maximum temperature during September 2015 in Malaga was 27.5 Celsius (81F), and that was 0.6 Celsius (1F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 19.8 Celsius (68F), and that was 0.4 Celsius (1F) below the normal September value.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 33.7 Celsius (93F) on the 22nd, but there were 5 other days when the temperature rose above 30 Celsius (86F). There were 3 of these very warm days during the first week and only 1 of the very warm days occurred after mid month. However, the maximum of 32.1 Celsius (90F) on the 23rd was the second warmest day of the month. There were no particularly cool days during September, but on 6 occasions the temperature failed to rise above 25 Celsius (77F). Only 1 of these cooler days occurred before mid month, but it was 1 of only 2 days with maxima below 24 Celsius (75F). In fact, the 7th and 26th shared the distinction of being the coolest days of the month with a high of 22.6 Celsius (73F).
The nights were comfortably warm through most of the month, partly due to the presence of lower than average sea temperatures. During the first half of September, there were only 2 nights when the temperature fell below 20 Celsius (68F), and on both these nights the minimum was above 19 Celsius (66F). On the first night of the month a low of 22.5 Celsius (73F) occurred, and on the 13th/14th a minimum of 22.1 Celsius (72F) was recorded. These were the only 2 nights with minima exceeding 22 Celsius (72F). After mid month, only the night of the 22nd/23rd had a minimum above 20 Celsius (68F), and that was only just above at 20.1 Celsius (68F). However, there were only 3 nights with minima below 18 Celsius (64F). These cooler nights all occurred during the last week with the 26th/27th recording 16.9 Celsius (63F), and the nights of 25th/26th and 29th/30th both measuring 16.7 Celsius (62F).
The sea temperature was around 22 or 23 23 Celsius (72-73F) early in the month but at the end of the second week a dip to an unusually low 15  Celsius (59F) occurred. A slow recovery to between 17 and 19 Celsius (63-66F) after mid month, with the sea temperature creeping up above 20 Celsius (68F) on the last 2 days of September.
Rain in Malaga
There were only 2 days during September when rain fell, but the total of 77.2 millimetres (3 ins.) was  270% above average. There was a little rain during both the morning and evening of the 6th. However, there was not enough to measure. It was different on the following day with a series of intense thunderstorms developing and producing torrential downpours. A total of 68.1 millimetres (2.7 ins) was measured, most of which fell in just 2 hours. It led to serious flooding and the suspension of flights at the airport as local roads became impassable. Much of the Costa del Sol was affected by the storms and in coastal villages to the east cars were swept down streets and left in untidy piles on street corners. As is often the case, there was little sign left that heavy rain had fallen by the end of the following week, with the only other rain, short-lived but heavy, occurring late on the evening of the 29th and in the early hours of the 30th.
Thunder
There was thunder in association with the very heavy rain on the morning of the 7th, with a thunderstorm late on the evening of the 29th, with this rumbling on into the early hours of the 30th.
Wind
There was the usual balance between light northwesterly land breezes overnight and during the mornings, and light or gentle southeasterly sea breezes during the afternoons and evenings. On the cooler days the sea breezes arrived early, and on the warmer days the land breeze persisted or briefly became a blustery southwesterly breeze running parallel to the beach. There were only  2 days when gusts exceeded 20 knots (23mph), the 14th and 22nd,  with the highest gust of 22 knots (25 mph) occurring on the 22nd.Fog
There was no fog observed in west Malaga during September, although visibility was reduced to around 500 metres in the heaviest rain on the 7th.Statistics for September 2015
