Wind
The wind was predominately from the northwest, but only just, with east or southeast winds accounting for also half the monthly total. This unusual winter configuration was responsible for the below average maximum temperatures with winds off the cool sea frequently halting the daily temperature rise. The wind fell light or calm at night on many occasions, so the sea affected night-time temperatures much less frequently. The northwest winds dominated on each of the first 11 days of the month, but on only 4 days thereafter. The strongest winds occurred in the early part of February, and the 4 days with gusts exceeding 20 knots (23 mph) all occurred before the 13th. The highest gust was 30 knots (34 mph) on the 1st.
Fog
No fog was observed in west Malaga during February.
