Temperatures
The average maximum temperature during July 2019 in Malaga was 29.4 Celsius (85F), and that was normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 21.6 Celsius (71F), and that was 0.2 Celsius (<0.5F) below normal for July.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 36.4 Celsius (98F) on the 26th, although the 14th was only a little less hot with 36.1 Celsius (97F). another very warm day was the 9th with a high of 34.0 Celsius (93F), and there were a further 10 days when the temperature rose above 30 Celsius (86F). There were no particularly cool days during July, but on 7 occasions the temperature failed to rise above 27 Celsius (81F). However, only 2 of these cooler days had maxima below 26 Celsius (79F). On the 17th, the temperature only reached 25.3 Celsius (78F), and on the following day a high of 25.1 Celsius (77F) was recorded.
As usual, there were many warm nights during July, and on the 27th the temperature only fell to 24.5 Celsius (76F). The 14th was almost as warm with a low of 24.1 Celsius (75F) measured. On most nights (20) the temperature fell to between 21 and 23 Celsius (70-73F), but there were a few somewhat cooler nights. On 5 occasions the temperature dipped below 20 Celsius (68F), with the lowest value of 19.4 Celsius (67F) occurring on both the 10th and 29th.
The sea temperature, was below average through most of the month with large daily fluctuations occurring. During the first week the temperature was mostly between 21 and 23 Celsius (70-73F), but in the second week values tumbled to 18 or 19 Celsius (64-66F), and as low as 17 Celsius (63F) around mid month. A steady rise then took place, peaking at 24 Celsius (75F) on the 25th. Thereafter, the sea temperature fell to around 19 or 20 Celsius (66-68F) at the end of the month.
Rain
There was no rain in West Malaga during July. So far this year less than 69 millimetres (2.7 ins.) of rain have fallen, a deficit of over 75%. The last measurable rain fell on April 25th.
Thunder
There was no thunder heard in west Malaga during July.
Wind
A weak northwesterly land breeze occurred on most nights during July, with sea breezes developing, usually from late morning, and not dying away until after dusk. Strengths were generally light or gentle, but on a few occasions, particularly around mid month, the cold sea helped to generate moderate or fresh southwesterly winds rather than the gentle southeasterly sea breeze that prevailed on most afternoons. However, the wind gusted above 20 knots (23 mph) on only 2 occasions , with the highest gust of 26 knots (30 mph) occurring on the 15th.
Fog
There was sea fog for a while in west Malaga on the afternoon of the 30th.
