Dry and warm, but some chilly nights
Temperatures
The average maximum temperature during November 2017 in Malaga was 20.3 Celsius (68F), and that was 0.7 Celsius (1F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 11.9 Celsius (54F), and that was 0.9 Celsius (1.5F) below normal for November.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 24.4 Celsius (76F) on both the 12th and 13th. There were 4 other days during the first fortnight of November when temperatures rose above 22 Celsius (72F), including a high of 23.9 Celsius (75F) on the 1st, and 23.2 Celsius (73F) on the 11th. On each of the first 13 days of November maxima exceeded 20 Celsius (68F), but only 4 of these warmer days occurred after mid month. There were no particularly cool days during the month, in fact, only 3 days had highs below 18 Celsius (64F). The cooler days coincided with the end of the month, with values of 17.3 Celsius (63F) on the 28th, falling to 16.9 Celsius (63F) on the 29th, and 16.3 Celsius (61F) on the last day of November.
The warmest nights in November were generally at the beginning of the month. On the 2nd a low of 18.6 Celsius (66F) was recorded, and each of the first 5 days of November had minima above 15 Celsius (59F). However, there was 1 other milder night, and that was the 26th. This was the second warmest night of the month with a low of 17.1 Celsius (63F). There were many chilly nights during November, and on 9 occasions the temperature dipped below 10 Celsius (50F). The 8th, with a low of 9.2 Celsius (49F), was only cool night before mid month, but after mid month 4 of these cooler nights had minima below 9 Celsius (48F), including 3 consecutive nights beginning on the 21st. The lowest reading was 7.1 Celsius (45F) on the 22nd.
The sea temperature was 20 Celsius (68F) at the beginning of November, but fell to 17 or 18 Celsius (63-64F) towards the end of the first week. A very slow decrease occurred during the remainder of the month, with 16 or 17 Celsius (61-63F) recorded on the 30th.
Rain
There were 37.3 millimetres (1.5 ins.) of rain during November. This was only 42% of the monthly average. Rain fell on 4 days, and that was 3 days below average. Rain was heavy for a while on the evening of the 3rd with 8.6 millimetres (0.3 ins.) measured. Showers continued into the morning of the 4th with 4.6 millimetres (0.2 ins.) recorded. It then stayed dry for over 3 weeks before showery rain occurred early on the 26th. There was not enough to measure on this occasion, but further rain occurred mid morning on the 28th. Less than 1 millimetre (0.04 ins.) of rain fell, but on the following morning there were some heavy downpours with the 23.6 millimetres (1 inch) more than doubling the total for the month.
Hail
There were no reports of hail in west Malaga during November.
Thunder
There were 3 days with thunder during November. Late on the evening of the 3rd there was an impressive display of lightning with plenty of thunder. An isolated flash and rumble was observed before dawn on the 4th. The heavy rain early in the morning on the 29th was accompanied by more than hour of almost continuous thunder and lightning.
Wind
The wind through November was mainly from the northwest with only limited afternoon sea breeze formation accept on the first couple of days of the month. The northwesterly wind was often quite brisk, especially during the mornings, but there were no exceptional gusts. The highest gust recorded was 21 knots (24 mph) on the 12th.
Fog
No fog was observed in west Malaga during November.
