Canillas de Aceituno is a small village located in the foothills of the “La Maroma” mountain in Spain.
The name of the village is said to derive from the Latin “Cannillae” – the area of cane plantations – and the Arabic word “Azeytuni” – woven and dyed silk.
The municipality of Canillas de Aceituno covers 42km2,
with the town centre located at an altitude of 645 m.
The population is around 2300 inhabitants.
