The highest temperature recorded during the month was 34.2 Celsius (94F) on the 7th. There were only 6 other days when the maximum exceeded 30 Celsius (86F), although on 5 of these warmer days the temperature was above 32 Celsius (90F) including highs of 33.0 and 33.1 Celsius (91F) on 19th and 20th respectively. On most days temperatures rose to between 25 and 30 Celsius (77-86F), but on 4 days the maximum was below 25 Celsius (77F). On both the 5th and 12th the high was 23.4 Celsius (74F), but on the 11th the temperature only reached 22.9 Celsius (73F). This was the lowest July maximum temperature recorded at this site in 9 years of records. However, that record was soon beaten when a high of just 22.8 Celsius (73F) was logged on the 14th.
There were no particularly warm nights during July but on 15 occasions minima were above 20 Celsius (68F). Only 1 of these warmer nights occurred during the first fortnight of the month, but that night, the 6th/7th, was the warmest in July with a low of 22.6 Celsius (73F). Of the 16 nights with minima below 20 Celsius (68F), only 3 occurred after mid month. These were 3 consecutive nights beginning on the 20th/21st. The lowest temperature was 18.9 Celsius (66F) on the 22nd/23rd. There were 7 cooler nights than this during the first fortnight of July, On 4 of the first 8 nights minima were below 18 Celsius (64F). The coolest temperature was on the opening night of the month when a minimum value of 16.8 Celsius (62F) was recorded.
The sea temperature was below average throughout the month, and much below at times. At the beginning of July, values of 16 or 17 Celsius (61-63F) were recorded. This was lower than readings from the coasts of Sweden, Finland and much of Denmark. Later in the first week sea temperatures rose to 18 or 19 Celsius (64-66F), and after mid month there were readings of 22 and 23 Celsius (72-73F). However, towards the end of July 20 or 21 Celsius (68-70F) were more typical figures.

Thunder
There were no thunderstorms in Malaga during July, but a thunderstorm in Cordoba on the afternoon of the 3rd produced some very light rain.
Wind
There was less strength to the northwesterly land breeze than normal through much of July, and with sea temperatures below normal it produced some cool afternoons on the beach. The onset of the southeasterly breeze was accompanied by marked temperature drops, as much as 10 Celsius (18F), on some occasions. It also gave some squally gusts of winds as the 2 contrasting air masses vied for superiority. There were only 3 days when gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph), the 6th and 20th when land breezes were dominant and gusts of 22 knots (25 mph) were measured, and on the 29th when an early afternoon sea breeze produced a gust of 25 knots (29 mph).
Fog
There was sea fog at times on several days during the second week of July, and on the mornings of the 12th and 14th, along with the evening of the 13th, it was dense with the visibility falling below 100 metres.
