Dry and Warm

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during April 2025 in Malaga was 22.1 Celsius (72F), and that was 1.1 Celsius (2F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 14.5 Celsius (58F), and that was 0.8 Celsius (<2F) above average for April.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 29.1 Celsius (84F) on the 26th, and there were 2 other days with maxima above 25 Celsius (77F). The 22nd had a high of 25.6 Celsius (78F) and 25.3 Celsius (78F) was recorded on the 25th. On most days (22) the maximum temperature ranged from 20 to 25 Celsius (68-77F), but there were 5 cooler days. On the 11th a high of 19.9 Celsius (68F) occurred, with 18.7, 18.9 and 18.8 Celsius (66F) recorded on the 3rd, 4th and 30th respectively. The coolest day of the month was the 12th with a maximum temperature of 17.7 Celsius (64F).

There was only 1 notably mild night during April, and that was on the 26th, when a low of 18.7 Celsius (66F) occurred. A further 14 nights had minima ranging from 15 to 17 Celsius (59-63F), the 3 mildest of these being the 27th, when 16.8 Celsius (62F) was recorded, and both the 12th and 30th, when 16.2 Celsius (61F) occurred. Most remaining nights had minima above 12 Celsius (54F), but there were 5 exceptions: the 1st, 5th, 8th, 15th and 20th. Only 1 of these cooler nights had a minimum temperature below 11.7 Celsius (53F), and that was the 1st with a low of 10.8 Celsius (51F).

The sea temperature ranged from 15 to 17 Celsius (59-63F) throughout the month.

Rain

There were 21.0 millimetres (0.83 ins.) of rain during April. This was 59% of the average. Measurable rain fell on 6 days, and that was average for the time of year. The first 2 days of the month were dry, but outbreaks of rain occurred during the morning and early afternoon of the 3rd and amounted to 4.8 millimetres (0.2 ins.). Further rain occurred overnight, with more early in the afternoon of the 4th. The total for the day was 2.8 millimetres (0.1 ins.). Dry weather prevailed throughgout the following 6 days, before a little rain overnight and during the afternoon of the 11th gave 0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.). The 12th was the wettest day of the month as rain fell throughout the morning and into the early part of the afternoon. A total of 6.8 millimetres (0.3 ins.) was measured. The 15th had some rain overnight, and light showers late in the afternoon and during the early evening. Only 1.6 millimetres (0.06 ins.) were measured, and this was the last rain until the final day of the month. On the 30th, outbreaks of rain in the afternoon and evening produced 5.0 millimetres (0.2 ins.).

Thunder

No thunder was heard during the month in this part of west Malaga.

Hail

No hail was observed in this part of west Malaga, but it was observed during the pre-Easter processions in the centre of Malaga on the evening of the 15th.

Wind

Winds during April were fairly typical for a mid-Spring month, with northwesterly land breezes dominating on 21 days. Several days had afternoon sea breezes from the southeast, and east to southeasterly winds occurred for much of the day and night during the brief unsettled interludes during the first and second weeks, and at the end of the month. Occasionally brisk southwesterly winds occurred in the afternoons, but generally the winds were lighter than during a typical April with only 5 days experiencing gusts above 20 knots (23 mph). The highest gust was 23 knots (26 mph) and this occurred on 4 days. On the 4th, when the wind blew from the east-southeast, and on the 15th, 19th and 20th, when it blew from the northwest.

Fog

No fog was observed in this part of west Malaga.
