Exceptionally warm and, as usual, very dry

Temperatures in Malaga

The average maximum temperature during August 2015 in Malaga was 30.9 Celsius (87F), and that was 1.2 Celsius (2F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 23.8 Celsius (75F), and that was 1.4 Celsius (2F) above the normal August value. Overall, it was the warmest August since records began in 2005.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 37.5 Celsius (100F) on the 13th, but that was the only day when the temperature rose above 35 Celsius (95F). However, there was a total of 20 days with maxima above 30 Celsius (86F). There were no cool days during August, in fact there were only 3 days when the temperature failed to reach 28 Celsius (82F). On the 25th, a high of 26.8 Celsius (80F) was recorded, with the 27th a fraction cooler at 26.7 Celsius (80F).
The nights were unpleasantly warm through most of the month, partly due to the presence of unusually high sea temperatures. On 10 nights the temperature remained above 25 Celsius (77F). All of these warmer nights occurred before mid month and included a low of 27.4 Celsius (81F) on the 13th. A few somewhat cooler nights occurred after mid month and on 3 nights the temperature fell below 21 Celsius (70F). These cooler nights were logged between the 17th and 19th and included a low of 20.2 Celsius (68F) on the 18th.
The sea temperature were remarkably high at the beginning of the month with values typically around 27 or 28 Celsius (81-82F). A sudden drop occurred around mid month with a 48 hour fall of some 10 degrees Celsius (18F). Fortunately, the fall was short-lived and by the end of the third week the sea temperature was back up to a pleasant 23 Celsius (73F), a figure that was maintained, with small fluctuations, until the end of the month.

Rain in Malaga

There were only 2 days during August when rain fell, and the 10th, when a little rain fell overnight and in the morning, was the only day when rainfall was measurable. However, the total was only 0.3 millimetres (0.01 ins). The other day when rain was observed was the 30th, but a few bursts of showery rain in the afternoon were insufficient to wet the ground.

Thunder

There were no thunderstorms in Malaga during August.

Wind

There was the usual balance between light northwesterly land breezes overnight and during the mornings, and light or gentle southeasterly sea breezes during the afternoons and evenings. On the cooler days the sea breezes arrived early, and on the hotter days the land breeze persisted or briefly became a blustery southwesterly breeze running parallel to the beach. There were  5 days when gusts exceeded 20 knots (23mph), with the highest gust of 24 knots (28 mph) occurring in association with the very warm northwesterly wind on the 13th.Fog
There was no fog observed in west Malaga during August.
