Temperatures
The average maximum temperature during February 2020 in Malaga was 19.7 Celsius (68F), and that was 2.7 Celsius (5F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 11.5 Celsius (53F), and that was 1.7 Celsius (3F) above normal for February. Overall, it was the mildest February since records began in 2005.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 24.9 Celsius (77F) on the 25th. This equalled the record high for the month set in 2007. Remarkably, there were 3 other days when the temperature rose above 24 Celsius (75F), the 11th, 17th and 29th. There were a further 7 days with highs above 20 Celsius (68F) including 3 days with maxima above 23 Celsius (73F). No cold days occurred during February. From the 4th to 6th there were consecutive cooler days, and also included the 2 coolest days of the month. A high of 15.8 Celsius (60F) occurred on the 4th, with the 6th only 0.1 Celsius (0.2F) milder.
There were many mild nights during February with the first night of the month the mildest with a minimum of 15.8 Celsius (60F). There were 4 other nights, the 6th, 12th, 19th and 26th, with lows above 14 Celsius (57F), and a further 3 nights had minimum temperatures above 13 Celsius (55F). Rain
There were only 0.8 millimetres (0.03 ins.) of rain during February. This was just 1% of the average. It was the driest February since records began in 2005. The only rain in west Malaga occurred early in the morning on the 19th.
Thunder
There was no thunder observed in West Malaga during February.
Wind
Although east to southeast winds dominated during the first week of February, and for a while around the end of the third week, most of the month had land breezes from the northwest. No particularly strong winds occurred, and gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph) on only 2 occasions. The 1st had a gust of 21 knots (24 mph) and the 27th recorded a gust of 23 knots (26 mph).
Fog
There was mist, and occasionally fog, on the morning of the 5th.
