Weather in Malaga February 2025

Mild and Rather Wet

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during February 2025 in Malaga was 18.3 Celsius (65F), and that was 0.9 Celsius (<2F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 10.5 Celsius (51F), and that was 0.3 Celsius (<1F) above average for February.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 23.1 Celsius (74F) on both the 14th and 25th. Only 2 other days had highs above 20 Celsius (68F). The 17th had a high of 20.2 Celsius (68F), with 20.7 Celsius (69F) recorded on the 23rd. On most other days (18) the top temperature ranged from 17 to 20 Celsius (63-68F). A further 5 days, the 7th, 10th, 11th, 21st and 28th had maxima between 16 and 17 Celsius (61-63F), but there was 1 exception. On the 3rd a maximum of 14.5 Celsius (58F) occurred, and that was the coolest day of the month.

There were no notably mild nights during February, but a low of 13.4 Celsius (56F) occurred on the 11th, and 13.2 Celsius (56F) was recorded on the 17th. On most nights (16) the minimum temperature ranged from 10 to 13 Celsius (50-55F), but there were several cooler nights, especially early in the month. There were 10 nights with minima below 10 Celsius (50F), but only 3 of these cooler nights occurred after mid-month. On 4 nights, all during the first week of February, the temperature fell below 8 Celsius (46F). On 2 of these nights the temperature dipped below 7 Celsius (45F). A low of 6.4 Celsius (44F) was recorded on the 7th, with 6.1 Celsius (43F) occurring on the 6th.

The sea temperature was around 15 or 16 Celsius (59-61F) throughout the month.

Rain

There were 58.2 millimetres (2.3 ins.) of rain during February. This was 30% above the average, and it was the wettest February for 8 years. Measurable rain fell on 4 days, and that was 2 days below average for the time of year. On the 3rd, rain fell for most of the day. It was heavy at times in the morning and early afternoon, but became lighter later in the afternoon and during the evening. The total for the day was 26.0 millimetres (1.02 ins.). A little rain, amounting to 0.6 millimetres (0.02 ins.) occurred just after midnight on the 8th. It then remained dry until the 22nd. On the 22nd, outbreaks of rain occurred in the morning, adding another 4.4 millimetres (0.17 ins.) to the monthly total. The last rain to fall during February occurred on the final day of the month. Heavy rain during the afternoon produced the wettest day of the month with a total of 27.2 millimetres (1.07 ins.)

Thunder

Occasional lightning and thunder occurred around, and for a couple of hours after, dawn on the 3rd.

Hail

No hail was observed in this part of west Malaga.

Wind

February was mostly a typical mid-winter month, with land breezes from the northwest dominating on 22 days during the month. Winds from between east and southeast occurred for most of the day and night on the 10th, 11th, 21st and 22nd. Winds from an east to southeasterly direction also occurred on the 28th. Gusts peaked at 24 knots (28 mph). It was a weak levanter (an easterly wind typical of the western Mediterranean, caused in part by low pressure over the sea or north Africa, and high pressure over the Iberian interior.). On the 3rd, a strong levanter occurred with a persistent strong wind, salt-laden rain and very rough seas. The highest gust on that day was 39 knots (45 mph), but that was well short of the 50 knots (57 mph) that occurred during February 2 years ago.

Fog

No fog was observed in this part of west Malaga.
