Mild and Wet, then Dry

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during February 2026 in Malaga was 18.9 Celsius (66F), and that was 1.4 Celsius (2.5F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 11.0 Celsius (52F), and that was 0.9 Celsius (<2F) above average for February.

There were several pleasantly warm days during February. The temperature on the 11th reached 24.4 Celsius (76F), and 23.4 Celsius (74F) on the 17th. A further 5 days had maxima above 20 Celsius (68F), including both the 12th and 18th, which had highs of 22.1 Celsius (72F). On most other days, the temperature ranged from 16 to 20 Celsius (61-68F) with 3 exceptions. On the 2nd and 7th, highs of 15.5 and 15.8 Celsius (60F) were recorded, but the coolest day of the month was the 3rd with a top temperature of 14.8 Celsius (59F).

There were a few mild nights during February, mainly during the second week of the month. A low of 15.9 Celsius (61F) occurred on the 10th, and 15.1 Celsius (59F) and 15.6 Celsius (60F) were recorded on the 11th and 12th, respectively. The 5th and 17th both had minima just below 15 Celsius (59F). On 14 other nights, minima ranged from 10 to 14 Celsius (50-57F), but there were 10 cooler nights, with 7 of these cooler nights occurring between the 20th and 26th. There were 5 nights with minimum temperatures below 8 Celsius (46F). They were consecutive nights beginning on the 21st. Only 1 of these coolest nights had a minimum below 7 Celsius (45F). That was the 22nd, when a low of 6.7 Celsius (44F) occurred.

The sea temperature was around 14 or 15 Celsius (57-59F) throughout the month.

Rain

A total of 67.2 millimetres (2.6 ins.) of rain fell during February. This was 48% above the monthly average. Measurable rain fell on 9 days, and that was 3 days above average for the time of year. It was the wettest February in 9 years, and only the February of 2010 had a higher number of days with rain according to records dating back to 2005. The first day of the month was dry, but showers on the 2nd produced 10 millimetres (0.39 ins.) of rain, and outbreaks of rain on the 3rd gave over 5 millimetres (0.2 ins.) of rain. Periods of rain and drizzle fell throughout the day on the 4th, making it the wettest day of the month with 24.0 millimetres (0.95 ins.) of rain measured. Rain on the 5th gave just over 1 millimetre (0.4 ins.), with showers on the 6th producing 3.4 millimetres (0.13 ins.). Rain, heavy at times, added another 17.8 millimetres (0.7 ins.) to the monthly total on the 7th. And although only 0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.) and 1.4 millimetres (0.05 ins.) of rain fell on the 8th and 9th respectively, they brought to an end 8 consecutive days with measurable rain, a most unusual event in Malaga. Only 1 other day experienced rain during February 2026, and that was the 13th, when showery rain totalled 3.8 millimetres.

Thunder

Thunder was heard on 1 day during February, and that occurred during a shower late in the evening on the 2nd.

Hail

No hail was observed at this site during February.

Wind

Winds during February were predominantly from the northwest with only 3 exceptions. The cool and showery day on the 2nd had easterly winds dominating, while southwesterly winds blew for most of the day on the 11th, the warmest day of the month. The only other day with northwesterly winds largely absent was the 28th, when cool and cloudy east to southeasterly winds were dominant. It was often quite breezy, especially during the first week and around the middle of the month. There were 10 days when gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph), with the highest gusts of 30 knots (34 mph) occurring on both the 13th and 16th.

Fog

No fog was observed in this part of west Malaga.
