Again the rain was mostly light, but it was the wettest day of the month with 2.4 millimetres (0.1 ins.) measured.

Thunder

No thunder was heard in this part of Malaga.

Wind

It was a windy month, and even windier than it was during December. There were 3 distinctive windy spells. The first was between the 4th and 6th, when persistent northwesterly winds produced gusts of 23 knots (26 mph) on each of the 3 days. Between the 9th and 14th, strong winds were initially from the northwest, but an east to southeasterly ‘levanter’ developed on the 11th, and during both the 13th and 14th winds gusted to 30 knots (34 mph). After a spell of lighter winds, albeit these mostly blowing from the cold sea, another ‘levanter’ developed on the 21st. It was unusually persistent and often accompanied by cloudy skies. On each day between the 22nd and 29th winds gusted to 20 knots (23 mph) or more. The 26th and 27th were particularly unpleasant days with a relentless wind regularly gusting above 25 knots (29 mph), and peaking at 32 knots (37 mph) on the 27th. The wind was much lighter on the 30th, and on the 31st the brisk northwesterly breeze was warm.

Fog
