Weather in Malaga – June 2018

Extremely Dry and Pleasantly Warm

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during June 2018 in Malaga was 27.2 Celsius (81F), and that was 0.2 Celsius (0.5F) above normal for the time of year. It was the first month this year with maximum  temperatures above normal. The average minimum temperature was 18.9 Celsius (66F), and that was 0.4 Celsius (1F) below normal for June.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was  29.8 Celsius (86F) on the 12th, but there were 4 other days when the temperature exceeded 29 Celsius (84F), with a further 7 days having highs above 28 Celsius (82F). On the remaining days maxima were between 25 and 28 Celsius (77-82F), but with 4 exceptions.  On 3 of these days, highs were below 24 Celsius (75F). The 16th, with a top temperature of 23.3 Celsius (74F) was the last of these cooler days. A similar maximum occurred on the 2nd, but the coolest day of the month was the 1st,  when the temperature only reached 22.2 Celsius (72F).
There were several  fairly warm nights during June, and on 8 occasions minimum temperatures were above 20 Celsius (68F). All of these warmer nights occurred after the 17th, with the highest minima of 21.7 Celsius (71F) occurring on 2 nights,  the 27th/28th and the 28th/29th. After the 17th,  there were no minimum temperatures below 19 Celsius (66F), but earlier in the month there were a number of cool nights. On 5 nights the temperature fell below 17 Celsius (63F), including the first 3 nights of the month. Only 2 nights had lows under 16 Celsius (61F), but the reading of 14.2 Celsius (58F) on the morning of the 3rd,  was the lowest in June since records began in 2005.
The sea temperature, around 16 or 17 Celsius (61-63F) at the beginning of the month, rose only  slowly during the first 2 weeks of June, but the rise then accelerated, and towards the end of the month the sea temperature reached a much more acceptable level of 22 or 23 Celsius (72-73F).

Rain

No rain fell in west Malaga during June.

Thunder

No thunder was heard in Malaga during June.

Wind

Northwesterly winds dominated on 20 days during June, but with sea breezes from either the southeast or southwest occurring on most afternoons. Although it was often quite breezy during the first half of the month, and especially  during the afternoons when southwesterlies blew along the beach, the rest of June had light or gentle winds. The site is sheltered from southwesterly gusts, but northwesterly gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph) on 2 occasions early in the month, with the highest gust of 23 knots (26 mph) recorded on the 11th.

Fog

There was no fog observed in  west Malaga during June.
