Temperatures
The average maximum temperature during May 2025 in Malaga was 25.0 Celsius (77F), and that was 1.0 Celsius (< 2F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 16.9 Celsius (63F), and that was 0.6 Celsius (1F) above average for May.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 31.7 Celsius (89F) on the 30th, and there were 3 other days with maxima above 28 Celsius (82F). All of these warmest days occurred after mid month. A high of 28.7 Celsius (84F) was recorded on the 19th, with 29.0 and 29.4 Celsius (84-85F) occurring on the 29th and 31st respectively. On most days (22) the maximum temperature ranged from 22 to 27 Celsius (72-81F), but there were 4 cooler days. On both the 1st and 24th a high of 21.9 Celsius (72F) occurred. On the 13th, a maximum of 21.7 Celsius (71F) was recorded, but the coolest day of the month was the 7th, with a high of 20.8 Celsius (69F).
The warmest night in May was the 30th, with a minimum temperature of 20.8 Celsius (69F). A low of 19.9 Celsius (68F) occurred on the 31st, and a further 9 days had minima between 17 and 19 Celsius (63-66F) with only 1 of these warmer nights, the 2nd, occurring before mid month. Most other nights had minima ranging from 15 to 17 Celsius (59-63F). In fact, there were only 2 exceptions. The 3rd and 4th both had lows of 14.5 Celsius (58F).
The sea temperature was mostly around 16 or 17 Celsius (61-63F) until mid month, but then rose steadily, reaching 22 Celsius (72F) on the last couple of days of May.
Rain
There were 4.0 millimetres (0.16 ins.) of rain during May. This was 19% of the average. Measurable rain fell on 3 days, and that was 1 day below average for the time of year. Light rain fell during the early hours of the 1st, with further rain during the evening. The total for the day was only 0.4 millimetres (0.02 ins.). Heavy rain briefly fell overnight on the 2nd and 2.8 millimetres (0.11 ins.) were measured. It then stayed dry until the 14th. Late in the afternoon of the 14th a decaying shower produced 0.8 millimetres (0.03 ins.), and that was the last rain of the month.
Thunder
A thunderstorm occurred around midnight (UTC) on the 1st/2nd, and 1 rumble of thunder was heard to the north mid-afternoon on the 14th, but no rain was associated with this latter storm.
Hail
No hail was observed in this part of west Malaga.
Wind
Winds during May were fairly typical for a late Spring month, with northwesterly land breezes dominating on 21 days. Several days had afternoon sea breezes from the southeast, and east to southeasterly winds occurred for much of the day and night during a 3-day spell at the beginning of the fourth week. Occasionally brisk southwesterly winds occurred in the afternoons, but these were generally less frequently than normal. Only 2 days had gusts exceeding 20 knots (23 mph). On the 19th, northwesterlies peaked at 23 knots (26 mph), and on the 23rd a steady strong east-southeasterly wind had few individual gusts but an almost constant 30-32 knots (34-37 mph) during the morning.
Fog
No fog was observed in this part of west Malaga.
