Very Dry

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during May 2026 in Malaga was 24.2 Celsius (76F), and that was 0.2 Celsius (0.5F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 16.3 Celsius (61F), and that was exactly the average for May.

The highest temperature recorded during May was 27.9 Celsius (82F) on the 21st. This was the lowest monthly maximum for May since 2012, and the second lowest since records began in 2005. A high of 27.4 Celsius (81F) occurred on the 25th, and 3 days, the 15th, 28th and 31st, had highs of 26.8 Celsius (80F). A further 10 days had maxima above 25.0 Celsius (77F). On most other days the maximum temperature ranged from 21 to 25 Celsius (70-77F), with all the coolest days occurring before the 21st.There were 4 days when the temperature failed to reach 21 Celsius (70F). On the 17th, a high of 20.7 Celsius (69F) occurred, but the coolest days were the 7th, 8th and 9th, with maxima of 19.8 Celsius (68F), 20.4 Celsius (69F), and 20.3 Celsius (69F), respectively.

There were no particularly warm nights during May, but a minimum of 19.2 Celsius (67F) occurred on the 31st, and 3 nights, the 2nd, 3rd and 30th, had lows above 18 Celsius (64F). The warmest of these nights was the 2nd, with a minimum of 18.5 Celsius (65F). Most nights (23), had minima ranging from 14 to 17 Celsius (57-63F), with just 1 cooler night. On the 18th, the temperature dipped to 13.9 Celsius (57F).

The sea temperature was around 18 or 19 Celsius (64-66F) for most of the month, before rising to 20 or 21 Celsius (68-70F) during the last week of May.

Rain

A total of 2.4 millimetres (0.09 ins.) of rain fell during May. This was only 12% of the monthly average. Measurable rain fell on 2 days, and that was 2 days below average for the time of year. The first 8 days of the month were dry, but the 9th was a mostly cloudy day with showery outbreaks of rain. The total for the day was 2.2 millimetres (<0.09 ins.). Light showers on the afternoon of the 10th gave 0.2 millimetres (<0.01 ins.) of rain, but no further rain occurred during the remainder of May.

Wind

Winds during May were fairly typical of a late Spring month with northwesterly land breezes overnight and through much of the morning, with southeasterly sea breezes blowing from late morning until mid to late evening. Winds were lighter than during a typical May, especially late in the month, with no gusts exceeding 11 knots (12 mph) after the 19th. The highest gust measured was 20 knots (23 mph) on the 4th.
