Weather in Malaga – November 2022

                      Warm and Very Dry

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during November 2022 in Malaga was 22.2 Celsius (72F), and that was 2.6 Celsius (<5F) above  normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 14.3 Celsius (58F), and that was 1.5 Celsius (<3 F) above normal for November. Overall, it was the warmest November since records began in 2005, exceeding the previous record, set in 2009, by more than 0.5 Celsius (1F).

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 26.0 Celsius (79F) on the 4th, but maxima were between 25 and 26 Celsius (77-79F) on the 3rd, 9th and 14th, with a further 4 days having highs above 24 Celsius (75F). The last of these warmer days occurred on the 25th when a temperature of 24.5 Celsius (76F) was recorded. On most other days (16) the temperature rose to between 20 and 24 Celsius (68-75F), but some cooler weather occurred in the second half of the month. On 6 occasions the temperature failed to reach 20 Celsius (68F), with all of these cooler days occurring after the 17th. Only 3 days had maxima below 19 Celsius (66F). On the 19th and 27th, highs of 17.8 Celsius (64F) and 18.4 Celsius (65F) were recorded, but the coolest day of the month was the 30th with a maximum of 17.7 Celsius (64F). 

The 4th was the only notably warm night during November with a minimum temperature of 19.0 Celsius (66F). On the 16th, a low of 17.2 Celsius (63F) occurred, and on 6 other nights the temperature remained above 16 Celsius (61F). The last of these warmer nights occurred on the 25th with a minimum of 16.5 Celsius (62F). On most other nights (18) the temperature fell to between 12 and 16 Celsius (54-61F), but some cooler nights occurred during the last week of November. On 2 occasions the temperature fell below 10 Celsius (50F). A minimum of 9.1 Celsius (48F) occurred on the 27th, but the coolest night of the month was the 30th when 7.4 Celsius (45F) was measured.

The sea temperature was around 19 Celsius (66F) during the first few days of the month, before falling slowly to 17 Celsius (63F) around mid month. At the end of the third week the temperature fell to 15 Celsius (59F), and occasionally touched 14 Celsius (57F) at the very end of the month.

Rain

There were 5.8 millimetres (0.23 ins.) of rain during November. This was only 8% of the monthly average. It was  the driest  autumn (September, October and November) since records began in 2005, with only 9.6 millimetres (0.38 ins.) of rain falling. Precipitation was measured on 3 days, which is 5 days below average. On the 3rd, overnight mist and dew produced 0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.) of ‘precipitation’, but on the 16th it rained early in the morning and 0.4 millimetres (0.2 ins.) were measured. The 18th proved to be the last day in the month with rain. A total of 5.2 millimetres (0.2 ins.) fell, and although it was a relatively small amount, it made it the wettest day since May 4th. 

Thunder

No thunder was heard in this part of Malaga.

Wind

Land breezes from between west and northwest dominated during November, although on several days before mid month southeasterly sea breezes blew from late morning until mid evening. Otherwise, afternoon sea breezes were weak on non-existent. It was quite breezy on many days, especially after mid-month, and on 6 days gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph). Apart from on the 4th, all the highest gusts occurred after the 17th, but 25 knots (28 mph) on the 28th was the highest gust, which is not unusual for the time of year.

Fog

The 3rd was misty at first but no fog was observed in this part of Malaga.
