Temperatures
The average maximum temperature during September 2021 in Malaga was 27.6 Celsius (82F), and that was 0.5 Celsius (<1 F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 20.8 Celsius (70F), and that was also 0.5 Celsius (<1 F) above normal for September.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 34.9 Celsius (95F) on the 10th, but 34.3 Celsius (94F) was recorded on the 8th, and both the 7th and 9th had maxima above 31 Celsius (88F). These were the only maximum temperatures above 30 Celsius (86F), with most days (22) having highs of between 25 and 28 Celsius (77-82F). The temperature only failed to reach 25 Celsius (77F) once, that was on the 24th, when a maximum of 24,5 Celsius (76F) was measured.
There were several warm nights during September, and on the 6th a low of 23.8 Celsius (75F) occurred. On the 10th, there was a minimum of 23.4 Celsius (74F), and a further 5 nights had minima between 22 and 23 Celsius (72-73F). Only 1 of these warmer nights occurred after the 13th, but there were no particularly cool nights. On 3 occasions between the 4th and 22nd, the temperature fell to 19.9 Celsius (68F), but the lowest values were confined to the last 4 nights of the month. On both the 27th and 29th the temperature fell to 17.9 Celsius (64F), but the coolest night was the 28th with a low of 17.8 Celsius (64F).
The sea temperature was around 22 or 23 Celsius (72-73F) for most of the month, but occasionally touched 24 Celsius (75F) during the last week of September.
Rain
There were 5.8 millimetres (0.23 ins.) of rain during September. That was only 22% of the average. Rain fell on 3 days, and that was average for the time of year. The first measurable rain since June 16th (excluding wet fog and dew) fell on the 14th, and although most of the rain was light, the total for the day was 3.8 millimetres (0.15 ins.). On the 21st, misty low cloud during the morning, with a little drizzle, added another 0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.) to the monthly total, and early showers on the 24th provided the final addition to the monthly rainfall, with 1.8 millimetres (0.07 ins.) recorded.
Thunder
There was no thunder heard in this part of Malaga.
Wind
It was a typical September with gentle morning northwesterly land breezes replaced until evening by light sea breezes. On many days, the land breeze was insignificant with no wind reported in the evenings, overnight and during many of the mornings. Occasionally, the incoming sea breeze produced isolated gusts, but the only breezy days were at the beginning of the second week when northwesterly land breezes were stronger and persisted through most of the day and were responsible for the warmest weather of the month. Gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph) on 3 days. The 9th and 10th both had gusts of 21 knots (24 mph), and the 13th had a gust of 29 knots (33 mph).
Fog
Misty low cloud occurred on a few mornings around mid-month, but no fog was observed.
