Rain
There were 1.6 millimetres (0.06 ins.) of rain during September. This was only 6% of the monthly average, but there was a drier September a mere 5 years ago. Measurable rain fell on 2 days, which was 1 day below average. A few spots of rain fell on the morning of the 12th, but not enough to measure. Overnight, and early on the morning of the 13th, a few bursts of light rain occurred and amounted to 0.4 millimetres (0.02 ins.). It then stayed dry until the 29th when evening rain totalled 1.2 millimetres (0.05 ins.)
Thunder
Lightning and distant thunder occurred early on the morning of the 13th.
Wind
The usual combination of northwesterly land breezes and southeasterly afternoon sea breezes occurred on many days, although generally at night winds were very light with the land breeze often non-existent. However, on several afternoons, particularly later in the month, a brisk southwesterly wind temporarily developed, whipping up sand and carrying away parasols. The highest gust recorded during the month was 23 knots (26 mph) on the 29th, but the weather station is sheltered from southwesterly winds, and gusts from that direction were probably considerably higher.
Fog
No fog was observed during the month.
