Very Dry and Rather Warm

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during September 2025 in Malaga was 27.8 Celsius (82F), and that was 0.5 Celsius (0.9F) above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 20.6 Celsius (69F), and that was 0.1 Celsius (<0.2F) above average for September.

There were no hot days during September. The highest temperature recorded during the month was 31.4 Celsius (89F) on the 10th, but 30.7 Celsius (87F) was recorded on both the 9th and 11th, and 2 more days, the 1st and 6th, had maxima above 30 Celsius (86F). On most other days (16) maximum temperatures ranged from 27 to 30 Celsius (81-86F), The last week of September was generally the coolest part of the month, with 6 days having maxima below 27 Celsius (81F). However, only 4 days during the month had maxima below 25 Celsius (77F). A high of 24.9 Celsius (77F) was recorded on the 4th, and 24.6 Celsius (76F) occurred on the 30th, but the coolest days of the month were the 14th and 29th, with highs of 23.6 and 23.3 Celsius (74F) respectively.

The warmest night during September was the 9th, with a minimum temperature of 23.3 Celsius (74F). However, on 5 other nights the temperature stayed above 22 Celsius (72F), including 4 nights during the third week of September. Many other nights had minima ranging from 20 to 22 Celsius (68-72F), but on 10 nights the temperature dipped below 20 Celsius (68F). On 5 of these cooler nights the temperature fell below 19 Celsius (66F). The coolest nights were the 23rd, 26th and 27th with minima of 18.0, 18.1 and 17.9 Celsius (64F) respectively.

The sea temperature ranged from 19 to 24 Celsius (66-75F), with some of the higher values occurring towards the end of the month.

Rain

Only 0.2 millimetres (0.01 ins.) of rain fell during September. This was just 1% of the monthly average. In west Malaga, it was the driest September since records began in 2005. The rain that briefly troubled the rain-gauge occurred early in the morning on the 24th. It was the first measurable rain since the 11th of June.

Thunder

No thunderstorms were observed in west Malaga.

Hail

No hail was observed in this part of west Malaga.

Wind

Winds during September were typical of an early Autumn month, with southeasterly sea breezes generally weakening as the northwesterly land breezes dominated. On most days the winds were light or gentle. In fact, on 14 days there were no gusts above 10 knots (11 mph). The only day when gusts exceeded 20 knots (23 mph) was on the 1st, when a blustery northwesterly wind gusted to 22 knots (25 mph).

Fog

Sea fog, dense at times, arrived from the southeast after dawn on the 14th, and cleared away early in the afternoon.
